Wilfrid E. Martin, Jr.
DRACUT - Wilfrid “Junior” Martin, age 85, a resident of Dracut, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2022, with his family by his side. He was the loving husband of Dolores R. (Morrissette) Martin, with whom he shared over 62 years of marriage.
Born in Lowell on September 11, 1936, he was a son of the late Wilfrid Sr. and Germaine (Nault) Martin.
He served as a member of the U.S. National Guard Yankee Division for over nine years.
Junior was self-employed as a carpenter and also worked in the maintenance department for the Dracut school system for many years.
He enjoyed working, taking long rides, outings with “the gang”, socializing and Saturday afternoons in the garage having “tea” with family and friends.
Junior was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Dracut American Legion Post 315.
He attended Mass regularly and was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Dracut, MA.
Surviving him in addition to his wife Dolores are three sons and three daughters-in-law, Daniel W. and Susan Martin, Wilfrid E. and Lorrie Martin and Andrew A. and Bridget Martin all of Pelham, NH; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Celine A. and Michael Hammar of Pelham, NH; and Colette I. and Eric Banda of Jackson, MO; fourteen beloved grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren; a sister, Rita Peters of Dracut, MA; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Omer G. and Rosemarie Martin of Pelham, NH; Marcel and Janet Martin of Dracut, MA; Antonio Martin of Dracut, MA; and Normand Martin of Chelmsford, MA; a sister-in-law, Carol Martin of Pelham, NH; a brother-in-law, Normand Ouellette of Nashua, NH; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Arthur and Catherine Morrissette of Winston-Salem, NC; Denis and Gail Morrissette of Dracut, MA; David and Katherine Morrissette of Greenbelt, MD; and Anita Campbell of Dracut, MA; and Don LaDuke of Lowell, MA.
He was also the brother of the late Emile Martin, Fleurette Ouellette and Therese Greaves and brother-in-law of the late Harry Greaves, Yvonne Martin, Harold Peters, James Campbell, Aline LaDuke and Alice Martin.
Relatives and friends will be received at the TYNGSBOROUGH FUNERAL HOME 4 Cassaway Dr., Tyngsborough on Friday, Aug. 19, from 3 to 7 p.m. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. in St. Francis Parish, Wheeler Rd., Dracut. Burial will be private in Gibson Cemetery, Pelham.
