Timothy A. Matson, aged 77, a longtime resident of Tyngsborough, passed away on November 19, 2021 after a courageous battle with Alzheimers. He was the devoted loving husband of Heather Mitchell Matson for over 50 years.
Tim was born on October 29, 1944 in Woburn, MA as the third child of Edward and Barbara (Tuttle) Matson and the younger brother of Ronald and late Janice Matson. After disassembling his father’s car in the driveway at the age of 10, Tim entered the automotive industry as a mechanic and eventually formed a professional drag racing team which went on to win a national Championship and set national records in the Pro Stock class. After exiting racing in good health, Tim owned and operated multiple businesses within the oil and gas, automobile repair and towing industries before retiring to his barn where he continued to tinker with high performance cars aka “crap boxes” daily.
While his life was dominated by his love of cars, his real love and dedication was his family. His wife Heather, son Timothy C., daughter in law Tiffanie, grandson Anders and granddaughter Arisey happily lived together in Tyngsborough under the roof he built with his own hands. He will leave an immense hole in those he left, but lives on through the family he loved unconditionally.
Later in life while still rooted in Tyngsborough, Tim travelled the world through Europe and Asia enjoying the different cultures and putting a smile on people’s faces with his perfectly manicured handlebar mustache and contagious smile. In lieu of flowers and gifts, please raise a glass to celebrate the life of an amazing man.
