Mohammad Zafar Majid Khan Obituary

Zafar, also referred to as Mr. Khan or Khan Sahib, was born in India on May 17, 1940. He passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2020 in Massachusetts, USA. Zafar was the son of two loving parents, the late Abdul Majid Khan and the late Museret Jahan Begum and he spent his childhood with them, in Karachi, Pakistan.  From a young age, Zafar was great at anything he set his mind to; he had a strong work ethic and took after his incredibly hard working father.  He had the good looks of a movie star and was often singled out from the crowd as a bystander to work as an extra in movies that were being filmed in Pakistan. He started working for the Pakistani International Airline (PIA) and soon after, he took an opportunity to move to England. He attended college in England and learned computer programming using Basic. After leaving college, he found a job as a Quality Control Inspector at Beatson Clarke, the glass manufacturing company, and over the years, he won employee awards and promotions because of his hard work and dedication. After early retirement, Zafar was a fearless entrepreneur; he successfully opened and ran many businesses including restaurants, halal butchers and grocery stores. He met his beautiful wife, Asma, during a visit back home to Pakistan. She moved to England to be with him, and they raised six children together, 5 girls and 1 boy. Zafar was a loving husband and devoted father, he spent his life learning and spreading wisdom to his children and everyone around him. He lovingly addressed his children, more often with "my child" or "beta"/”beti”, rather than their names, something they miss already.  He was a master at DIY, always keeping busy with projects around the house, fixing cars and helping his friends and family using his skills. Mr. Khan’s famous catchphrase was “I know everything” and indeed he did, according to his children and all those that knew him. He was also a devout Muslim, a man of god; he spent his life spreading the word of Islam, he studied it and was comparable to a scholar. Mr. Khan had quite a rich taste in music, and he enjoyed the musical talents of Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Louis Armstrong, Dean Martin, Lizzo, RHCP, Bob Marley, and many more. He loved animals, birds in particular and looked after them from an early age. He had great appreciation and was in awe of the world around him, he appreciated every moment he spent on this earth. Although he moved to America 13 years ago, he remains beloved by the community that he left, back home, in England; during his lifetime, he made a positive impact on many hearts and lives across continents. His charming personality, wisdom and gentle ways will never be forgotten by anyone he's ever met, and he lives on in his children for all of their lives.

Mr. Khan is survived by his wife, Asma Zafar Khan, his children, Bina Zafar and her husband, Amar Suhail, Sana Zafar, Mona Zafar, Omar Ali Khan, Anika Zafar and Karina Zafar and his grandson, Harris Khan.
