Mary E. (Grimes) Heffernan

Mary E. (Grimes) Heffernan, age 94, a resident of Dracut and a former longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away on January 10, 2021, in Lowell.  She was the wife of the late John J. Heffernan.

Born in Boston, on December 8, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Elizabeth (Young) Grimes.

She was raised in Boston and was educated in the Boston School System.

Mary along with her husband John raised seven children and later she worked in quality control for USCI in Billerica.

She enjoyed watching games shows and traveling, especially to Ireland and Bermuda.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Maureen Logue and her husband Patrick of Dracut; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Jack and Sheryl Heffernan of Chelmsford, Kevin and Patricia Heffernan of Dracut, Brian Heffernan of Chelmsford and Neil and Donna Heffernan of Auburn, NH; thirteen grandchildren, Mary, Kathleen, Kimberly, Kelly, Katie, Ian, Colleen, Siobhan, Tricia, Sean, Courtney, Blair and Paige; nineteen great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was also the mother of the late Gary Heffernan and Elizabeth Batten.

Relatives and friends will be received at the TYNGSBOROUGH FUNERAL HOME, 4 Cassaway Dr., Tyngsborough on Saturday, Jan. 23rd from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.  A prayer service will take place immediately following at 2 p.m. in the Funeral Home.  Those attending the services will be required to wear a mask and practice social distancing.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the American Diabetes Assoc., 2451 Crystal Drive Suite 900, Arlington, VA 22202.  For online condolences or directions, please visit www.tyngsboroughfhuneralhome.com.
