Leonard Gay, Sr. Obituary

Leonard Gay Sr.

TYNGSBOROUGH – Leonard Gay Sr, a longtime resident of Tyngsborough, passed away on May 15 just after his 71st birthday at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen.

He was born in Gloucester, MA in May of 1949, and grew up on Long Pond in Dracut, MA. He was the son of the late Charles and Margaret Gay and predeceased by foster parents Joseph and Alice Lajoie and was one of ten children.

He was a U. S. Army veteran having served during the Vietnam War and continued on to serve in the Army Reserves for over two decades. His career path ran the gamut from making boxes in the Lowell Mills as a teen, working at Ma/Com for twenty plus years, to owning his own industrial painting business, Independent Spray.

Before dementia took over, Leonard had a life of the party personality that drew people to him no matter where he was. He also never had a desire to remain still, he'd always have a building or landscaping project ready to start or was busy repairing vehicles for friends and rebuilding whatever piece of equipment he believed deserved a second chance at a useful life.

He is survived by a son, Leonard Jr; three daughters, Patricia, Tammielyn, and Amy; grandchild Dakota; and former spouse Therese.

In accordance with his wishes, Funeral Services will be private.  Those wishing may make a memorial in his name to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). For online condolences, please visit www.tyngsboroughfuneralhome.com.
