Fay Elaine McLean (nee Johnson) was born in Melrose, Massachusetts on July 19, 1930. She passed away on February 20, 2021 in Groton, Massachusetts.
Fay was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was an avid knitter and crocheter and donated countless handmade hats and mittens to school children in her community. Each new baby in her extended family was given a special crocheted octopus, and she created afghans and ponchos and other items for friends and family.
Fay had an unwavering faith in God and was an active member of the Jehovah's Witnesses-Kingdom Hall in Pepperell. Over the years, Fay was a foster mother to more than 100 children. Fay was kind, generous, compassionate and thoughtful, and she will be greatly missed by her family, friends and community.
Fay was predeceased by her husband, Donald McLean and her two sons, Earnest McLean and Daniel McLean, and her siblings, Earnest Johnson, Richard Johnson, Ruth Ruel, and David Johnson.
Fay is survived by her sisters, Althea Cimino, Grace Youngren, Dee Heft and Janice Lovely and her children, Sherry, Eileen, Donald, Douglas, Tammy and Tim. She is also survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
There will be a private memorial service for her family on March 13, 2021 on Zoom. Please contact Donald McLean for more information.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers all donations be made to the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry in Devens, Massachusetts.
