David Barnes Obituary

David L. Barnes

David L. Barnes, age 63, a resident of Derry, NH, and a former longtime resident of Lowell, MA, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2022.  He was the beloved husband of Kimberly A. (McDonald) Barnes.

Born in Lowell on December 1, 1958, he was a son of the late Harold L. and Claudette M. (Beauchesne) Barnes.  He was educated in the Lowell School system and was a graduate of Lowell High School.

He loved his country and was proud to have served in the U.S. Army from 1977 until his honorable discharge in 1978.

David was employed by the City of Lowell School Department for many years. Prior to that he was an employee of Raytheon

He loved hosting his friends for weekly card games and watching football or Nascar. His friends always knew he was available if they wanted someone to talk to, a competitive game of Yahtzee, or a delicious dinner. He was known for his signature hot wings.

He could often be found cooking large breakfasts for his grandkids and watching Saturday morning cartoons with them. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and going out to drinks or dinner. His family meant the world to him and he cherished every moment they were together.

Surviving him in addition to his wife Kimberly are two daughters, Jennifer Maloney and Tricia Burrows; four grandchildren, Shayla Rogers and her partner Scot Apel, Amber Pomer and her husband Eric Pomer, Zachary Burke, and Isabella Lima; two great-grandchildren, Aubree and Vexahlia; two brothers, Bruce Barnes and Gary Barnes; and many nieces and nephews.  He was also the brother of the late Kelly Phillips.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Committal Service on Friday afternoon, May 13, at 12:30 p.m. at the Chapel, in St. Joseph Cemetery, on 96 Riverneck Rd, Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make a donation to: The Wounded Warrior Project at woundedwarriorproject.org.
