Therese (Belanger) Denommee R.N. Obituary

Therese B. Denommee, 90, of Tyngsboro, quietly passed into the eternal life on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at her beloved lakeside home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born and raised in Lowell, MA, the eldest child of Joseph and Helen (Levasseur) Belanger.

After graduating from St. Joseph’s Girls High School, she went on to earn a full scholarship—one of the very first from Sun Charities—to St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Lowell where she proudly achieved her RN degree in 1951. Her professional career began in the French district of Lowell, where she was a member of the Lowell Visiting Nurses assigned to the Little Canada district. She stepped away from nursing to raise her family, but returned later to serve as substitute school nurse for the town of Tyngsboro. It was through her early nursing career, she met the love of her life, a young navy man, Denis J. Denommee. They married and began a love story that spanned 62 years. They moved their growing family from Lowell to their home on the shores of Lake Mascuppic in Tyngsboro, MA where they raised their nine children. Therese and Denis were fixtures on Bowers Avenue and on the lake with their frequent evening boat rides in the Therese B. Their lakeside home was always open and welcoming to family and friends. Therese was blessed with many deep friendships. She had a caring heart for the sick and needy and provided comfort without ever needing recognition. Besides her love for Denis, her deep faith was a bedrock throughout her life. Therese was a communicate of the Catholic church and found great joy in teaching CCD and directing the choir to the children at St. Mary Magdalen’s parish. Her hobbies included card and board games, reading and square dancing. She was a gifted artist; in her younger years she enjoyed sewing and quilting. While in Florida she found a passion for painting—particularly with water colors—and took pride in the wall murals she helped create in their retirement community in Florida. Later in life, she was a school volunteer in her daughter Jeanne’s classroom at Tyngsboro Elementary School. Therese will forever be remembered for her kindness, optimistic attitude and her gratitude for life’s blessings big and small.

Her incredible and enduring spirit is survived by eight of her nine children, Denis G. Denommee and wife Donna of Marlborough, MA; Jeanne Trearchis and husband George of Tyngsboro, MA; Michelle Adams and husband Steve of Tyngsboro, MA; Therese "Muffy" Deleault and husband Peter of Tilton, NH; Bernard Denommee and wife Diane of Tyngsboro, MA; Martha Manning and husband Jack of Dunstable, MA; Guy Denommee and wife Carin of Tyngsboro, MA; Gerard Denommee and wife Kathi of Seattle, WA.

Therese is survived by her many grandchildren that loved her and knew her as "Mem", Kristen (Denommee) Ogden; Michael Denommee; Molly (Adams) Foley; Sarah (Deleault) Bouchard; Zachary Trearchis; Joshua Trearchis; Benjamin Adams; Danielle (Denommee) Leclair; Jake Manning; Bridget Adams; Abby (Deleault) Picard; Katie Denommee; Scott Denommee; Timothy Adams; Matthew Manning; Ashley Denommee; Tyler Denommee; Drew Denommee; Sophie-Briere Denommee; Phelan-Gerard Denommee and her great grandchildren, Lucas Ogden; Maddie Ogden; Kylie Leclair; Kenny Leclair Jr; Trevor Denommee, Maxwell Foley, Caleb Picard, Eli Bouchard, Jonathan Trearchis and Owen Foley with five more on the way this year.

She is also survived by her sister Cecile Fortier of Lowell, MA, her sister Annette Denino of Bristol, RI and brother Paul Belanger of Lowell, MA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family members. Therese was preceded in death by her beloved husband Denis J. Denommee, devoted son David E. Denommee, and her sister Marcelle McCormick.
