Rodney “Rod” J. Wendelgest
Loving husband, father and grandfather
BROOKLINE-NH – Rodney J. Wendelgest, age 82, a resident of Brookline, NH and a former resident of Virginia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 11, 2018, at his home with his loving family and friends by his side. He was the beloved husband of Claire E. (Miles) Wendelgest with whom he had been married for 10 years.
Born in Columbus, Ohio, on August 1, 1935, he was the son of the late Mary and John Wendelgest. Rod received his early education in Ohio and then attended Ohio State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
Prior to his retirement, he had been employed for thirty five years as a mechanical engineer for Dupont. Rod loved to fish and build items and he took great pride in the cabin he built in North Haverhill, NH.
Surviving him in addition to his loving wife Claire are five children, Christopher Wendelgest of VA, Andrew Wendelgest of VA, Susan Best and her husband Mark of VA, Kimberley Bowman of VA and Brian Kelley and his wife Lisa of Lunenburg, MA; six grandchildren, Paige Bowman, Olivia Kelley, Owen, Kelley, Christian Kelley, John Best and the late Jordan Bowman; his former spouse, Irene Wendelgest of VA; also many dear Christian friends from the Christian Bible Church in Nashua.
Relatives and friends may call at the TYNGSBOROUGH FUNERAL HOME 4 Cassaway Dr., Tyngsborough on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. His Funeral Service will be held on Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Christian Bible Church, 205 Manchester Street Nashua, New Hampshire 03064 Phone: 603-882-1055.
