Maurice P. Clermont
1930 - 2018
Mr. Maurice P. Clermont, age 87, passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2018, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was the husband of the late Marie (Regan) Clermont who died in 2008.
Born in Dracut, on November 13, 1930, he was a son of the late Alfred and Rosalie (Boisjoly) Clermont. He grew up in Lowell prior to living in New York, Lunenburg, MA and Clinton, MA before moving to Dracut during his adult years.
Maurice was a Korean War veteran having been drafted in 1952 by the U.S. Army and served in France for two years until his honorable discharge.
He was an excellent salesman for several years, but found his true talent in becoming a Hair Stylist in Clinton for several years until his retirement.
For many years, he led travel groups to Africa, Canada and beyond.
Maurice was blessed with a beautiful singing voice and performed at the Beacon Motel in NH.
Maurice served as a lector at St. Francis Church and then at D’Youville Manor as both lector and Eucharistic Minister until his illness. He also served as a Justice of the Peace for over 20 years, taking great pride in performing meaningful ceremonies.
He is survived by a son, Christopher Clermont of Attleboro; a daughter in law, Mary Clermont of Franklin; two grandsons, Corey and Ryan Clermont; a granddaughter, Nicole Clermont; a sister, Aline Clermont of Lowell; a sister in law, Sally Slattery; and a brother in law, Mark Regan.
He was the father of the late Matthew Clermont and brother of the late Donat Clermont and Yvette Mayrand.
CLERMONT – Mr. Maurice P. Clermont. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no visitations. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Friday, July 13, 2018 at 11 a.m. in St. Francis Parish, Wheeler Rd., Dracut. Graveside services will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make a donation in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
