Jerry M. French, Sr.

1935 - 2018

TYNGSBOROUGH – Jerry M. French, Sr, age 83, a longtime resident of Tyngsborough, passed away on December 29, 2018 at the Lowell General Hospital, with his family by his side.  He was the beloved husband of Shirley I. (McCullough) French with whom he had been married for 58 years.

Born in Jackson, KY on November 20, 1935, he was a son of the late Daniel M. and Delcie (Begley) French.

Jerry was educated in the Jackson school system and was a graduate of Jackson High School.

He was a member of the Army National Guard prior to being drafted by the U. S. Army in 1958 and having served until his honorable discharge in 1960.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed by General Electric for over 18 years.

Jerry was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Lowell and the American Legion Post 247 in Tyngsborough.

He enjoyed basketball, fishing, puzzles, playing Keno and country music, but what was most important to him was his grandchildren.  He cherished the time spent with them and enjoyed caring for them when they were young.

Surviving him in addition to his loving wife Shirley are his children, Jerry M. French Jr. and his wife Sandra and the late Cynthia Lee Manning and her husband Steven R. Manning all of Tyngsborough; four grandchildren, Steven Manning Jr, Shane Manning, Ashley Maher and Morgan French; his sisters and brothers, the late Betty Drake, the late Carolyn Hall, the late Pearl French and  Jean Combs and husband Berry all of KY, William French and wife Rita of MI, Margarite Smith and husband Steve, Danny French and wife Veronica, and Elizabeth Wall and late husband Don all of KY; he also leaves many loving sisters in law and brothers in law and nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend their sincerest appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff at LGH Cancer Center and Circle Home Health for the exceptional care provided to Jerry.

FRENCH – Jerry M. French Sr.  In accordance with his wishes, services and burial will be held privately for his family in Tyngsborough Memorial Cemetery.  Those wishing may make a memorial contribution to the LGH Cancer Center, Philanthropy Office, 295 Varnum Ave., Lowell, MA 01854.
