Loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother

WESTFORD – Irene R. (Lagasse) Ricard, age 87, a longtime resident of Westford, passed away on September 29, 2019 at her home, with her family by her side.  She was the wife of the late Lionel J.P. Ricard. 

Born in Lowell on August 12, 1932 she was a daughter of the late Archille and Dorothy (Dufault) Lagasse.  She attended Lowell Schools and was a graduate of Saint Joseph’s High School.  

Irene enjoyed being a homemaker and taking care of her large family.  She loved to make people laugh, travel to fun places and create latch hook rugs.   Irene was also a member of St. Catherine of Alexandria Parish in Westford.

She is survived by three sons and two daughters in law, David and Rita Ricard of Tyngsborough, Brian and Kim Ricard of Hollis, NH and Bruce Ricard of Tyngsborough; a daughter and a son in law, Diane Godfroy and her husband Maurice of Westford; nine grandchildren, Shawn Ricard and his wife Janet, Christopher Ricard and his wife Kelly, Allison Cormier and her husband Keith, Stacey Godfroy, Stephanie Dipetso, Sonya Leong and her husband Warren, Melanie Ricard, Ryan Ricard and Bryanna Ricard; fifteen great grandchildren; three brothers and three sisters in law, Andre Lagasse and his wife Theresa of Westford, Armand Lagasse and his wife Anita of Chelmsford and Archille Lagasse and his wife Meghan of Hanover;  five sisters and two brothers in law, Jeannette Guillemette of Nashua, Lucille Delfino of Ohio, Ruth Rachel Arsenault of Loudon, Dorothy Sjoman and her husband Paul of FL and Rose Gatteney and her husband Louie of FL; also many nieces and nephews.

Irene was the sister of the late Leon, Robert and Raymond Lagasse, Pauline Ducharme, Doris Proulx and Bernadette Leahey.  She was also the mother in law of the late Priscilla Ricard and great grandmother of the late Tyler Ricard and Elliot Cormier. 

Relatives and friends will be received on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the TYNGSBOROUGH FUNERAL HOME 4 Cassaway Dr., Tyngsborough.  Funeral Friday morning with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine of Alexandria Parish, 107 N. Main St., Westford. Committal services will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Westford.
