WESTFORD – Don L. “Mishy” Hopkins, age 62, a longtime resident of Westford, passed away unexpectedly on September 15, 2018. 

He was born in Boston on April 14, 1956, a son of the late John A. and Helen S. (Jacobsen) Hopkins.

Don was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force having served from 1974 until his honorable discharge in 1977 having earned the rank of Sergeant. 

Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the United States Postal Service as a postal clerk in Chelmsford for over forty years.  He was also a “Camp Master” at Saco River.

Don loved to spend time at home with his dog Emma doing gardening and watching the Boston Bruins.

He especially loved watching great nephews Matt and Owen Willhite and Cammo Hopkins play deck and ice hockey as well as spending quality time having tea parties and being silly with great nieces Brooke Hopkins and Aby Willhite.

He leaves behind his best friend Emma; his brother Jeff Hopkins and his wife Brenda of Royalston, MA; their children and godson, Jay Hopkins and his wife Jessie of Tully, MA and goddaughter Jes Willhite and her husband Chris of Royalston, MA.  He also leaves behind two nephews, Corey Hopkins and his fiancé Nadine Willey of Athol, Ma and their children Levi and Melia and Andrew Hopkins of Athol; as well as a brother Bruce Hopkins and his wife of Athol; an adopted brother, Dennis Karkota of Westford and extended family members and many many friends.

If you knew Donny, his contagious laugh and playful spirit would stay with you.  He was kind, smart and so wonderful to be around. In his words “50”.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Sunday, September 23, 2018 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Nabnasset American Legion Post 437, 114 Dunstable Rd., Westford, MA 01886.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory to a local animal shelter of your choice.  For online condolences or directions, please visit www.tyngsboroughfuneralhome.com.
