S. Marguerite (Brassard) Maher Obituary

S. Marguerite “Maggie” (Brassard) Maher, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at the age of 95 surrounded by her loving family.  She was the beloved wife of the late Hector A. Maher who died in 2001.

She was born in Lowell on October 16, 1928, one of seven children of the late Adolphe O. and Marie Jeanne (Boucher) Brassard.  Maggie was a graduate of St. Joseph High School and was a parishioner of the former Ste. Jeanne d’Arc Church and more recently of the Parish of Saint Rita.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the Internal Revenue Service. She also worked for many years in the office for Dr. Anthony Reppucci.

Maggie was loved by her family and friends and she was a true friend to all. She was always there to lend a hand and bring a smile or make a donation to her favorite charities. She never met a dog she didn’t want to pet or sneak a treat too, especially her beloved Skippy-Doo.

In retirement she led a very active life. She enjoyed traveling with friends to places like Hawaii, Florida, Yellowstone National Park (well not so much that one) Foxwoods and especially her yearly Mother’s Day weekends in Maine with her daughter and many nieces.

In her later years, when confined at home, she still had a zest for life. She looked forward to her many visitors and any chance to share stories and memories from her past that we all will cherish, as she is the last of her immediate family. She was always ready to join a card game and looked forward to her daily afternoon games of cribbage with her daughter Suzi. She also looked forward to wonderful meals, cooked to order, from her son David.

For those who were not able to visit in recent years, she loved you all, especially her dear friend Euretta Weller from Berlin, NH.

She was a devout catholic who participated in the Mass, prayed the Rosary and Devine Mercy Chaplet daily on Catholic television.

She is survived by her two children, David Maher and Suzanne Maher both of Lowell; many beloved nieces and nephews, including Marie and Melissa Marchand whom were by her side at her time of passing, and many dear friends.  She was also the sister of the late Juliette Brassard, Maurice Brassard, Raymond Brassard, Aline Banville, Marietta Grandchamp and Jeanne Marchand.

Relatives and Friends will be received on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the TYNGSBOROUGH FUNERAL HOME, 4 Cassaway Dr, Tyngsborough.  Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday morning at 10 a.m. in the Parish of Saint Rita, 158 Mammoth Rd., Lowell. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford.  Those wishing may make a donation in her memory to Pawtucket Farm Wildlife Sanctuary, c/o Mill City Grows, 650 Suffolk St., Suite G10, Lowell, MA 01854 or at www.millcitygrows.com
